First California Pizza Kitchen opens in Japan:

The U.S. based pizza chain, California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), opened its first outlet in Japan on September 26. WDI Corporation operates CPK in Japan. ATO Tokyo has supported WDI Corporation in its efforts to establish new American style restaurants in the country. For example, the ATO and MIATCO sponsored a WDI Corporation executive responsible for restaurant development to attend the 2005 National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago. The ATO's efforts are beginning to pay off. CPK Japan carries around 50 menu items in their restaurants and the food ingredients for half of these items come from the United States.
