Japan Reports 30th BSE Case:

Japan's 30th case of BSE was confirmed on November 13th. Tests on the 5-year-old dairy cow performed at the National Institute of Animal Health confirmed that the cow, which died at a ranch on Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido, was infected with the fatal illness. Japan put its ruminant feed ban in place in November 2001, soon after it detected it first case of BSE. (11/22/06)
