Domestic MRL Violation Big News In Japan: 


Japanese strawberries from Kamitsuga, Tochigi Prefecture were found to contain 0.44 ppm of Fosthiazate on January 16, and the legal MRL is .05 ppm. This violation became big news on February 1st and is being reported as having pesticide residues of 9 times the legal limit. The grower, Tochiotome, is one of the most popular growers in Japan. The local agricultural cooperative, Kamitsuga JA, has voluntarily recalled 40,000 packages of strawberries as a result. (02/02/07)
