The Consumer Affairs Agency (CAA) of Japan has proposed a mandate that manufacturers of enzymes used as food additives provide the biological names of enzyme-producing microorganisms. This additional requirement would be applied to 70 enzymes currently approved as food additives in Japan. By October 1, 2025, interested U.S. parties should submit their comments to PPTRD@usda.gov for processed products.
